  • Dan Curran takes over as head of supply chain at World Duty Free. This role has been newly created by the airport retailer in recognition of the importance of supply chain management and forms a separate function outside of Buying for the first time.
  • Canon Europe has appointed Perry Buenen as chief of supply chain management, responsible for collaboration across the company”s pan-European supply chain infrastructure. Buenen replaces Stefano Zenti, previously chief of ICT & supply chain management, who will continue as chief of ICT for Europe.
  • Paul Brooks, Unipart Logistics sales director, is the new Chairman of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Paul has been involved closely with the development of the Institute since 1995 and a Board member since August 2004.
  • Robbie Burns returns to the limelight as Nightfreight Group”s new executive chairman, incorporating the responsibilities of chairman and chief executive. Burns was the founding chief executive of Exel (Logistics) and has held a number of board advisory roles at CTR (Tiphook), Ryder, Tibbett & Britten and Hays. He was the architect of the recent Burns Inquiry into freight taxes and foreign competition on behalf of the RHA and FTA.
  • NetDespatch, the on-demand software company, has appointed Matthew Robertson to the Board of Directors.
  • Bibby Distribution has promoted Tony Mohan, business development director, to the Executive Board.
  • Effective 1 April 2008, Bob Mihok, who has been managing Kuehne + Nagel”s organisation in South America since 2001, will take over responsibility for the company”s operations in Eastern Europe.
