Kevin O’Marah, senior vp, AMR Research delivered the key address on the first day of the Extended Supply Chain conference in London last month. At what is now seen as the leading strategic supply chain conference, attended by over 450 high level practitioner delegates, he highlighted the increased level of risk in today’s demand driven supply networks and emphasised the need to deliver ‘more perfect orders on lower inventory – Five per cent of revenue is the cost differential between leaders and laggards’. He went on to point out that a 10 per cent improvement in visibility equates to a 20 per cent improvement in productivity. These were some of the findings from research carried out by AMR in the US.
Over 100 speakers from around the world – including Prof. Martin Christopher from Cranfield, Alan Waller president of the CILT, and consultants from Accenture, Capgemini and PA Consulting were involved in 57 sessions over the two days of the event.
The Awareness Group, organisers of the Extended Supply Chain conference was acquired by Centaur Media plc, the publishers of Supply Chain Standard just prior to the London event.
