Automated logistics for Algerian tyre factory

Cimcorp is to supply automated logistics systems for a new tyre plant in Algeria being built by electronics and household appliances group, Saterex, which is diversifying into tyre manufacture.

The plant is being built at Sétif, 190 miles east of Algiers, and will be the first tyre factory in Algeria since Michelin closed its plant in 2013.

Cimcorp will supply automated handling systems from its ‘Dream Factory’ solution for both upstream and downstream manufacturing processes at the Sétif plant. This means automated handling from the raw materials and compound warehouse to the mixing and compounding areas, as well as handling automation for green tyres from tyre building to curing, and finished tyre handling in the testing and palletising areas.

The factory will be the largest tyre plant in Africa producing one million passenger car radial tyres in the first year, followed by two million units of both car and truck tyres in the second year.
