Cargo to capture 900 aircraft

Air cargo traffic will grow at an annual rate of 4.7 per cent for the next 20 years, according to a forecast from Boeing.

The aircraft manufacturer’s latest Current Market Outlook puts the total demand for new aircraft over the next two decades at more than 38,000, at a forecasted value of $5.6trn (£3.6trn). An estimated 920 of these aircraft are destined for cargo use, with the outlook noting that the air cargo market continues to strengthen.

Randy Tinseth, vice president of marketing at Boeing Commercial Airplanes, said: “We’ve seen two years of solid growth in the air cargo market and we expect that growth to continue.”
