StreetScooter, a subsidiary of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has unveiled the ‘StreetScooter Work L’, an electric vehicle described by the company as a new category of commercial vehicle.
The vehicle has double the capacity of the previous model. It has eight cubic metres of loading space, and can carry up to 150 parcels and 1,000 kilograms. The new StreetScooter has a stronger engine and a lithium-ion battery for up to 100 kilometres range.
DHL said that it aims to put upwards of 170 vehicles on the road by the end of 2016. They will be used for joint delivery – parcels and letters, as well as parcel shipments alone – as a part of the delivery company’s ‘carbon-free delivery’ project.
