David Gosnell, former Diageo president of global supply and procurement, has become a non-executive director of Coats, the industrial thread and consumer textile crafts business.
Mike Clasper, chairman of Coats, said: “David brings extensive supply and procurement knowledge acquired during his time with world class global manufacturing companies. This will bring invaluable additional industry expertise and perspective to our board.”
In December 2014, Gosnell retired from Diageo, which owns brands including Guinness, Smirnoff Vodka and Captain Morgan. Gosnell led a team of 9,000 people around the world across manufacturing, logistics and technical operations as well as managing Diageo’s global procurement budget. Prior to spending a total of 16 years at Diageo in a variety of roles he was at Heinz for 25 years.
Gosnell, who has more than 30 years’ experience in supply and procurement strategy and execution, will take up his new role from 19 February. In addition, he will also chair Coats’ Remuneration Committee.
Gosnell added: “Coats has a strong manufacturing heritage and I am looking forward to helping contribute to its continued growth.”
Alongside his new role, Gosnell currently serves as non-executive director of supply chain solutions provider Brambles.
