Gebrüder Weiss adds Turkey – Baltic multi-modal service

Gebrüder Weiss is adding rail freight to its services between Turkey and the Baltic Sea, following a cooperation agreement with Lithuanian Railways.

Goods will be loaded as sea freight at Istanbul, then transferred to rail at the Black Sea port of Odessa and transported via Kiev, Minsk and Vilnius to Klaipeda in Lithuania.

Regional manager, air and sea Asia at Gebrüder Weiss, Vojislav Jevtic, said: “This means that we have not only created a good route between the Bosphorus and the Baltic Sea, but can also offer our customers a good service to all the countries in-between.”

The company also said that the transport system is a good way to service Russia and Scandinavia.
