IAG Cargo expands

IAG Cargo has expanded its reach into South Africa with the launch of a B777-200 Cape Town service, which will operate three times a week from London Gatwick.

From 24th November the service will run throughout winter. It supplements the A330-300 Madrid – Johannesburg service, which will also run three times a week from 1st August, and the existing London Heathrow – Cape Town and Johannesburg services operated by IAG.

IAG said that this extra capacity will benefit the buoyant perishables market in Africa.

“We now offer an outstanding proposition into and out of South Africa, providing businesses with enhanced flexibility over where and when they ship their goods,” said David Shepherd, head of commercial. “Connecting through IAG Cargo’s Madrid hub, the forthcoming Johannesburg route will help to better link Africa with strategic markets, such as Latin America, while the new Cape Town-Gatwick route offers unrivalled access to Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.”
