IKEA picks Jungheinrich for Moscow warehouse

IKEA has chosen Jungheinrich to supply the handling systems for its new distribution centre in Russia.

The site, 50km north west of Moscow, will have a 45 metre high, high-bay warehouse that is 200m long and 130m wide. It will offer a total of 210,000 pallet locations.

Jungheinrich group will act as general contractor for all intralogistics equipment installed at the distribution centre as well as performing the role of systems integrator.

It is the biggest individual project ever undertaken by Jungheinrich and is due to be completed in 2017. “Winning this contract underlines Jungheinrich’s competence as a worldwide provider of integrated system solutions,” said Steve Richmond, director of Jungheinrich UK’s Systems and Projects Division.
