Jaguar Land Rover has chosen DHL Supply Chain to manage in-plant logistics at its new factory in Itatiaia, Brazil.
DHL will oversee all aspects of the supply chain, from warehousing through to sequenced track-side delivery. This includes delivery of sub-assembled kits to the production line, streamlining the manufacturing process.
Goods arriving at the warehouse will be stored in 8,500 pallet locations where DHL will sort, move and sequence parts, as well as sub-assemble kits of up to 25 components, before shipping in sequence to the assembly line.
JLR opened the £240 million plant in June last year and it is the company’s first wholly-owned overseas facility.
The new facility is building both the Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport for Brazilian customers.
Jaguar Land Rover has had a presence in the Brazilian market for more than 25 years.
