The Competition and Markets Authority has given the go-ahead to Müller’s acquisition of Dairy Crest’s processing, trading and distribution activities for liquid milk and related products.
The deal, worth £80m includes Dairy Crest’s facilities at Severnside, Chadwell Heath, Foston and Hanworth together with around 70 depots. It is due to complete by 27th December.
The deal is expected to deliver economies of scale and cost efficiencies to the UK dairy sector to compete more successfully in global markets.
Following the sale Dairy Crest will focus on its branded cheese and spread businesses.
