Morrisons’ group manufacturing director Mark Harrison is moving to a new role as group supply chain and projects director, which will involve working with chairman Andy Higginson on delivering key projects to build trading momentum.
Harrison has had responsibility for supply chain for 12 months. He will continue to take responsibility for supply chain at board level as well as lead major projects designed to improve Morrisons customer experience and enable the company to operate more efficiently.
Higginson said: “Mark has done an exceptional job in quickly developing our manufacturing capability to produce more of our fresh food from our own factories. Mark will now be working on important projects, such as improving our stock and cash management.”
Neal Austen continues to have board responsibility for logistics and transport, plus strategic end-to-end initiatives such as the introduction of a sales-based ordering system.
Andrew Thornber will take up day-to-day responsibility for the manufacturing business as manufacturing managing director, reporting into group trading director Casper Meijer.
