British International Freight Association
BIFA’s role is to provide a focus for the international freight distribution industry. It says its mission is: “To provide effective representation and support for the UK international freight services industry; to promote good practice and total quality in the provision of freight services by all members, and to encourage the membership to observe the highest standards of professional competence”.

European Association for forwarding, transport, logistics and customs services. It was founded in 1958 and represents the majority of national organisations of freight forwarders and customs agents both in the European Union and on a continental level.

Fork Lift Truck Association
The Fork Lift Truck Association exists to raise standards in the materials handling industry; protecting the interests of consumers and improving safety and productivity in the workplace.
Freight Transport Association
The Freight Transport Association represents the transport interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air. FTA members operate more than 200,000 goods vehicles – almost half the UK fleet. In addition, they consign over 90 per cent of the freight moved by rail and over 70 per cent of sea and air freight.

International Air Transport Association
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 240 airlines or 84% of total air traffic. We support many areas of aviation activity and help formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues.
Insitute of Road Transport Engineers
The Institute of Road Transport Engineers was founded in 1944 to encourage ever-higher standards of excellence. it is particularly concered with safety in operation. It is now part of the Society of Operational Engineers.

The IOC aims to promote of professional and safe practices in serving the industry and its customers, in addition to promotiing best practices for individuals to improve their skills and qualifications.
Institute of Grocery Distribution
The IGD aims to provide thought leadership and supply chain best practice for the Food and Grocery Industry. It provides a forum for discussion, learning and opportunities for improvement and the development and sharing of best practice.
International Air Cargo Association
TIACA aims to bring together all the links in the air logistics chain. Its stated mission is to advance the interests of the air cargo industry and strengthen its contribution to world trade expansion.
International Chamber of Shipping
The International Chamber of Shipping and the International Shipping Federation are the principal international trade association and employers’ organisation for merchant ship operators, representing all sectors and trades and over 75% of the world merchant fleet.
International Federation of Warehousing and Logistics Associations
The Federation, a non-profit making body, was developed to fill the need for a truly international organisation comprising people whose main business is the storage of customers’ goods. Other organisations deal with the handling and movement of goods but the IFPWA was developed to solely address warehousing matters of global interest: it will foster the good relationship of public warehouse keepers throughout the world. Each year the Federation hosts a warehousing logistics industry convention in a different region of the world.
International Road Transport Union (IRU)
The IRU, through its national associations, represents the road transport industry world-wide with the mission to ensure the mobility of people and goods. It is international guarantor of the TIR carnet system under which trucks are sealed by customs upon departure and can cross several borders without further checks until they reach their destinations.
Rail Freight Group
RFG’s aim is to promote cost effective rail solutions for freight. RFG has more than 150 member companies, ranging from shipping line Maersk to retailer, Marks & Spencer. Members include customers, logistics providers, suppliers, terminal operators, ports and freight train operating companies.
Road Haulage Association
The Road Haulage Association (RHA) provides dedicated campaigning, advice, information and business services specially tailored for the haulage industry.
Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders
The SMMT is the trade association for commercial vehicle manufacturers and is the organiser of the annual Commercial Vehicle Show.
Supply Chain Council
The Supply-Chain Council was organized in 1996 by Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) and AMR Research, and initially included 69 voluntary member companies. It now has closer to 1,000 corporate members world-wide and has established international chapters in North America, Europe, Greater China, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, South East Asia, Brazil and Southern Africa.
Transaid is an international development charity that aims to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods across Africa and the developing world through creating better transport. The organisation was founded by Save the Children and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and its Patron is HRH The Princess Royal.

United Kingdom Warehousing Association
UKWA was originally established as a trade body for the third party warehousing and logistics sector, but it now embraces all companies that provide warehousing or other logistics support services in the supply chain.
World Shipping Council
The goal of the World Shipping Council is to provide a coordinated voice for the liner shipping industry. The WSC and its member companies partner with governments and other stakeholders to collaborate on actionable solutions for some of the world’s most challenging transportation problems.
